Building our sustainability ambitions

The ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) house is built on four pillars. These pillars have been carefully chosen to do justice to all stakeholders. In our discussions with these parties, we jointly arrived at an overview of the most important themes in our value chain. For each theme, we determined ambitions that we want to realise in the coming years. The pillars and themes are set out below.

Validation of Climate Targets by the SBTi

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated Peka Kroef's climate targets. This validation confirms Peka Kroef's commitment to substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its own operations and throughout its value chain, in line with the 1.5°C pathway of the Paris Climate Agreement.

In the short term, Peka Kroef has committed to reducing its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 54.7% by 2035 compared with the 2024 baseline year. In addition, the company aims to achieve a 33.3% reduction in Scope 3 FLAG emissions (emissions related to forestry, land use and agriculture) and a 46.2% reduction in other relevant Scope 3 emissions, including emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, transportation and distribution, and the processing of sold products.

Peka Kroef has also established ambitious long-term targets. By 2050 at the latest, the company aims to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 90%, reduce its Scope 3 FLAG emissions by 72%, and lower emissions from its key Scope 3 categories by 97% per kilogram of product sold, compared with the 2024 baseline year.

Through these science-based targets, Peka Kroef reinforces its commitment to working collaboratively with growers, suppliers, customers and other value chain partners to build a resilient and climate-friendly potato value chain. Furthermore, Peka Kroef is committed to ensuring that the primary commodities within its supply chain are free from deforestation, with a target date of 31 December 2026.
